A CONTEMPLATIVE LIFE WITH A CAMERA

My fascination with images and cameras goes back to childhood when I was given a Kodak Brownie; I understood it was true love the first time I saw an image come up in developer bath many years later.  I have been an active photographer for over 30 years and now, in retirement, have time to explore images and the photographic process in new ways.

Looking Beyond

The camera can see clearly and literally, but it can also tease our perception—our “vision.” Even an apparently representational image may spark reflection or raise personal or social questions. And maybe images that are less clear may inspire contemplation that takes the viewer out of themselves to consider other dimensions.  I hope my images invite mindful viewing and encourage meaningful conversation. I look forward to hearing from you. evelyn@evelynastridknight.com.

"There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are."

"Black and white are the colors of photography. They symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is subjected."
